Hence, joined me (Texts and pictures narrator by my kid - Nathaniel) for our real time travelling trip to HCM City and later to Batam Island!
Day 1 - Morning Flight to HCM City (or Saigon), Vietnam
This is Changi Airport Terminal 1, we are waiting at Belt 54 to aboard the flight just behind me
BTW, do remember to reserve your seat prior to your booking! (Especially online booking)
Hoorary! Is time for aeroplane meals! I always enjoy eating "Aeroplane Meals". Mummy told me that this time we have to buy the breakfast meal listed from the menu because this is a budget airline. We ordered two sets of sandwiches at S$7.00 each. I have milo at S$3.00 and mummy have coffee also at S$3.00.
Hmmmm, the sandwiches tasted yummy yummy! I finished one all by myself.
"Good Morning, Sir!" Look, I have a glimpse of one of the pilot on duty. He just came out from the washroom. HeeHeeHee!
Nearly about an hour boring flight (no catoons to watch or games to play) , we are approaching Ho Chi Minh City.
Yippy!! We finally arrived Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon. This is the Tan Son Nhat Airport. Now we are waiting for our luggages at the luggages belt.
This is the Arrival Hall Exit.
Am I look co0ol?? I mean in the aircon mini car. HCM climate is really very HOT. U see, what
a contra when Daddy and Mummy brought me to Shanghai last December. The temperature is down to minus zero degree.Verrrrrrry cold!
Mummy, why everywhere is motoorbikeee?? Mummy, how these people cross the road with so many bike? Daddy, are we going to ride on these motorbike as well?
The first impression when you step out of the airport and make your way downtown was the traffic. It's a totally different scenario as what we used to see in our hometown or nearby countries. Motorbikes largely outnumber cars throughout. In fact, driving a car require more attention with all these bikes jam-packed the entire road and waving in and out from all directions. Almost everyone rides a bike, male or female, teenagers, office workers, older folks, some with 2 or 3 pillon riders including children.
This is an unique scene that only Vietnam have. You got to have the nerve to move along slowly and cautiously in the midst of all these moving bikes or you never get to cross over to the opposite side. It's dangerous to hesitate midway or panic with approaching bikes as this tend to confuse the bikers to anticipate your next move - to the left or right of him. So do be very careful. Even though there are zebra crossings and green man signal at many traffic junctions, you cannot rely on the.
Vehicle (especially the bikes) just don't stop for pedestrians. Some bikers even go against the flow of traffic and making illegal turns on every directions. They even turn up to the pavement of any shops.
About 30 mins of exciting moments of the road scene, we have arrived our hotel - Windsor Plaza Hotel. Being rated a five-star hotel, it is located at 18 An Duong Vuong Street, District 5. It is situated in the very centre of District 5 HCM City and is set between the business district Saigon and historic Chinatown district. You can visit their website at http://www.windsorplazahotel.com/ for a better vision about this hotel. They offer FREE pick-up and drop-off from/to Airport.
