TRAVEL TO DESARU FRUITFARM & FIREFLIES WATCHING - MALAYSIA

We have been for a 1 day trip to Desaru Fruitfarm and Fireflies watching in Malaysia and also another 8 days trip last month around Christmas season visiting to Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau. I guess I would like to start 2 new postings for these 2 trips first as everything are still fresh in mind.

Well, are you ready? Let goooooooo......... follow Nathaniel to our recent trip to Desaru Fruitfarm and Fireflies Watching.

1 Day Trip to Desaru Fruitfarm & Fireflies Watching @ Malaysia

Hey, Good Morning everyone, I am Nathaniel. Guess where am I going now? Yes, is heading towards Desaru Fruitfarm and Fireflies Watching @ Malaysia. This is a 26 seaters coach. Not very used to it because I had been pampared all the while on those executive coach to KL and Genting where I could have games to play or DVD to watch. Even the seat is much more comfortable for a small sleep. Luckily I got my PSP with me.

Enroute Johor Bahru, we are being leaded to a restauant for what is claimed to be the most famous "Liang Tao Fu" Noodle House - "Ah Kum's Noodle House" for our breakfast. (At our own expenses of course!)

Time passed very fast and shortly after our breakfast, we headed straight to our destination - Desaru's Fruitfarm. On our way there, it was raining and I thought this trip would be drained due to the rain. However, the rain just stopped in time when we arrived the fruitfarm. There was a farm tour guide came to receive us and she now briefing us about one of the fruit tree growing but I don't quite understand what she said.

This uncle is showing us how to distinguish a male and female tortoises

Do all of u know how to distinguish which is a male and female tortoise? Let me tell u, the left one is a male and the right one is a female tortoise. Why? Because when the male tortoise mate with the female tortoise, he need to be on top of the female shell and soon his back form a shallow deep-in.

Ai, can you tell whether I am a male or female?? Hee...Hee...Hee

"Hi, Rabbit, good boy, come let me smooth u a little"

"Don't mistaken that the shocked-looking women stand behind is my mummy OK?. But the 2 smaller kids (the blue shirt boy and the pink shirt girl) that stand on the right side of me is her children. Just wonder Y she look so shock?? Perhaps she thought that her boy's hand is going inside the rabbit mouth?"

"Maddddd........., well, now we have arrived at the Goats' Barn"

"Comeon Goat Brother!, u must be struching, here is your food." As a city boy, I seldom have chances to visit such place or feed the animals etc. It is interesting and I like to feed them with food. My mummy said next time, she will bring me to Australia farm so that I can stay in the farm, shed sheep skin, feed them and or squeeze cow milk etc etc.... But, mummy? your "next time" is when, huh????

Again? I need to pose for a picture here with some hungry goats. Hurry up mummy! I still want to feed them."

Come on! Eat more grass. I still have many for u.

"Come! Bus No. 3! Follow me this way. I show you around." I pretend that I'm the tour guide and lead the group. Very interesting.

I think this is the only spot that can tells everyone that we have been to Desaru Fruitfarm. Because most tourists stop here to snatch pictures of this landscape. Infact this landscape has been beautifully set up and good picture taking spot.

There are also a nice "koi" fishpond where we could feed the fishes with fish food brought from there. These koi were so hungry when the fish food was thrown down, they almost jump out of the water trying to get their bit.

"Croo...Croo...." I heard my stomach also calling. It was time for lunch! This Desaru trip included a lunch buffet spread and tropical fruits spread. The fruits includes mangos (my favourite - also many others favourite because in a wink of eyes, most mangos had been snashed up!), papayas, bananas, jumbo fruits, apples, dragon fruits and pineapples as well. I could not really tell what food were the buffet had because b4 my mummy could take a picture of the buffet (in full), many hands, heads were already gathered at the buffet table and in less than 5 mins....... much food had been snashed up. My mummy always said "this is our Singaporean culture lor!". "What is Singaporean culture?", I asked. Mummy replied:"U see, I am not taking some pictures of the buffet although I always do it during our every other trips but instead I quickly join the quenes to take the food for u b4 its run out!" "Hoor, Singaporean likes to eat, itz?", I asked again. "Aiya, something like that la! Quick, u start eating your rice, I'm going to get some fruits b4 it finished......" said mum and she dashed off to the fruits spread.

Come on! Daddy and Mummy, look here and say cheezeee!

Hello kids, anyone of u want to come on stage to join me for some balloos-dancing?

Guess what am I going to do now? The highlight of this Desaru Fruitfarm trip is that u would have a chance to pluck fruits from the trees. My mummy was disppointed to note that so called "pluck fruits from the trees" is only small playing meant for small kids and also limited to jumbo fruits at low brushes. (And of course had to pay for doing so). Heard is calculated per kg. Nevertheless, I still have a chance to do so because my daddy and mummy always wants me to experience things I have not done b4. Thanks Dad! Thanks Mum!Look here how I pluck some fruits:-

Plucking one

3 left

Plucking another

Last one!

"OK, enough, Nat! enough....." I think I heard my mummy keep reminding me to stop plucking....... "Have to pay per kg, u known?" continue my mummy.

Thereafter, we also went for some other tours around the fruit farm which included strolled around an organic vegetables plot (too small to mention anything), education talk on bees and tasting of raw honey (quite boring place because basically focused on selling their product - honey to those uncles and aunties. Actually the itneriary mentioned that we would be shown how the bees are at work but it was not shown at all. Sighed..........I recalled when I went to Ho Chin Minh City - Vietnam, there was also a trip to bee farm and I could freely see the bees at work and even had an opportunity to place my finger over the bee hive to dig fresh produce honey to try etc ........ (Don't forget to visit my post on Trip to Vietnam -Ho Chin Minh City for more).

Finally, one could expect our last tour at Desaru Fruitfarm would end where...... Yes! The fruits and Souvenir shoppe lor! Wherelse, right?. Again, I have a boring waiting time for my daddy and mummy and those uncles, aunties to accomplish their favourite task. Hence, Did reader realized that there are NO photo on the shop, rite? Yalor, my mummy is a shopping queen mah, maybe she busy shopping, buying and forgot to take pix.

"Come, Nat! Let me take some more pictures b4 we are going back to the coach." exclaimed mummy. This marked the end of our fruit farm trip and we were proceeding to our next destination - Desaru Beach and fisherman Museum

We had arrived at the Desaru Beach. Waah! The sun was terrible HOT!

Am I look coool?

"Mummy, hurry up! I want to go wee wee"

"Mummy, there are no souvenirs for you to grab here leh!"

Later, we also visited the Fisherman Museum located just next to the beach front. Its Fisherman Museum display various equipment used by the fisherman to support their livelihood such as glass buoy and traps.

Approaching evening time, we were at a seafood restaurant @ Restoran Makanan Laut Yoou Kee at Sungai Rengit for our dinner. Most of them praised the food were excellent because they were given small lobsters to eat. But to me, I HATE SEAFOOD! I felt sick while I smelled those fishy fresh smell from those seafood. Luckily, I still have other food like chicken / pork / vegetables to go with my rice.

Again, why my mummy did not take pictures of the food where most people is doing so? Asking my mum and she replied because we are sharing table seat with 10 other peoples and the food came one at a time before the next one. She felt very uneasy to take picture of the food in such manner. So she decided to give this photo shooting a miss and she added we can always go back to the restaurant on our own.

Lately, the coach still stopped at a unknown town for my daddy, mummy, those uncles, aunties to buy their last pieces of souvenirs - local biscuits b4 we proceed to our last tour - Koti Tinggi Fireflies Watching Cruise. Indeed, I was thrilled by the millions of fireflies lighting up over the dark mangroves and even more amazing to see millions and thousands of shinning stars at the sky. I even sang "Twinkle,Twinkle Little Stars" throughout the tour. I also had a chance to glimpse one of the orang-otan sleeping on the tree. How lucky!

We ended our trip about 9.30 pm. I felt very sleepy and dozed off throughout the returning trip to Singapore.
